The Annie Duke Show #4 with Brande Roderick, Andrew Hill Newman & John Prendergast

Annie welcomes a great guest lineup this week including The Enough Project’s co-founder John Prendergast; actress/model/businesswoman Brande Roderick; and actor/producer extraordinare Andrew Hill Newman.

Kicking off the show, Annie interviewed John Prendergast about The Enough Project, an organization dedicated to preventing genocide and other crimes against humanity. The cause is close to both Annie and John’s hearts, and the big focus of the conversation was the work the Enough Project is doing in Darfur (alongside George Clooney, might I add) to raise awareness about the atrocities being committed and, of course, to try to stop them and prevent them in the future. Prendergast also served as the Director of African American Affairs for the Clinton Administration, and gave his feedback on perception changes since then with regards to racial relations.

Up for debate with the panel was an election-centric topic, “The Enthusiasm Gap for Democrats: Who’s to Blame?” Our guests chimed in on various strategies and short-falls with voting just around the corner. Brian also provided our Fast Facts for the day, which included:

1. The 2008 Presidential Election drew the largest voter turnout in history.

2. Obama was aided in 2008 by a record amount of minority and youth voters.

3. Only half of Obama voters plan to vote Nov. 2 while two-thirds of McCain voters say they’re certain to vote.

4. Republican Candidates reportedly have more than twice the Facebook Fans than Democrat Candidates

5. Obama’s approval from independents is lagging.

6. New poll however shows that Democrats may be closing the gap as Obama’s approval jumps.

Thanks to Brande and Andrew for providing such great feedback!
