This Week in Android #19 with Taylor Wimberly

This Week in Android #19 with Taylor Wimberly

Featuring Mike Hobbs and Taylor Wimberly founder of Android and Me.

The co-hosts included Ashley Esqueda.

The big news this week was the release of the EVO 4G.

The interview of the week (in lieu of an app) was with Taylor Wimberly founder of Android and Me. Android and Me is TWiA’s preferred source for news, providing us with great discussions and material. Taylor told us about the website and discussed the release of the EVO as well as other news.

Jeff Ammons of Mahalo was out this week. The team visited the HTC LA event on Thursday and showed some photos of the event. This Week in Android will undergo an overhaul, making the move to This Week in Mobile.

Girl = Hot. Guy = Hipster PBR douchebag.

You guys should be kissing Taylor's ass because he knows more about Android than both of you. Jebsus Chris.

It's the last show. That came as a surprise.
I'm a bit disappointed I must say but it's probably better this way.
Ashley, make it your mission to have one of those androids on the table of your new show this week in mobile.

This is only my second time listening, but I am very disappointed that this is the last show. I'm much more interested in Android news than I am in iPhone or other mobile news because that's what I've got. Best of luck to you with This Week in Mobile – I won't be listening.

Josh, sorry to see you go and we would love if you would give us one more
chance in our new format – This Week in Mobile.

Looking for a good Android-oriented podcast. Found this site tonight and enjoyed listening to this episode. Disappointed to hear that the podcast is changing to a more generic mobile phone oriented format. There are already more than enough excellent podcasts dedicated to the iPhone/iPad, Windows Mobile/Phone, and other devices. I'll check out the next few TWIM shows but will likely end up looking elsewhere; I'm sure someone else will address the growing audience that is looking for an Android-oriented podcast.

Galaxy S is coming out here in Bangkok, Thailand. I checked last week. You can purchase them directly from the Samsung store on the June 26th or something. It's around 21000 THB. It's actually one of the reasons I'm looking at it over the Nexus One, which is only available on the gray market.

As for supporting the launch, carriers out here, just offer data plans which you pay for. Plans are always pre-paid and not post-paid and you usually pay for your phone out right. Something I actually prefer.

I can get unlimited 3G (in beta), GPRS and Wifi account from True internet for under $30 / mnt. Wifi is all over the city and if I buy this plan, I can use it on my laptop as well.
