This Week in Comedy #23 with Eddie Pepitone, Jason Nash and Peter Bumgarner of ‘Limo Driver’

Sundays at 6pm PDT

This week our host Ed Crasnick explores all things comic with the savagely funny Eddie Pepitone and the star of ‘Jason Nash is Married’ – Jason Nash. The complexities of watching a Liam Neeson thriller with your mom is the subject of our in studio musical guests ‘Limo Driver’. All this plus comedy news with Julie Mitchell and updates and feedback from the nerve center of comedy that is Vicky Pezza.

Vicky’s Blog:

Ed kicks off the show with a clip from Jason Nash is Married directed by Peter Bumgarner, starring Jason Nash (with Busy Phillips & Andy Daly) and from Childrens Hospital featuring Eddie Pepitone (with Paul Scheer).  Ed talks about the comedy community, and Julie Mitchell discusses her holiday plans and a night on the town in LA.  She dishes the comedy news, plays “6 Degrees of Separation” with Christmas films, and announces that the Betty and DD School of Acting Arts’ Christmas video is up!  After we check in with the chat, we roll a clip from Eddie Pepitone’s appearance on WTF with Marc Maron.

Eddie Pepitone sits down with Ed to talk about his feelings about booking commercials and the nightmares that stem from them.  (Literally – he dreams about Comcast ads).  Ed shares his experience of seeing Dick Cavett & Mel Brooks.  Eddie describes the evolution of his comedic style – merging stand-up with improv.  Eddie performs his bit about a mentally ill man forced to address his illness at the halftime show of a Lakers’ game, to the entire crowd, with increasing confidence.

We play a clip from “Jason Nash is Married” addressing how a wife and kids inherently negate being ‘cool.’  Ed & Eddie were then joined by Ron Hockman from Great Neck – Jason Nash’s father-in-law.  He compares Ed to a list of obscure comedians none of us have ever heard of and laments over the devastation the bad economy has brought to his industry – the toe aeration business.  He gives us the scoop on his son-in-law, whom he does not find funny.

We say goodbye to Eddie & Ron, play another clip of Jason Nash is Married, and Jason Nash & Peter Bumgarner join us.  Jason addresses his father-in-law’s appearance while suspiciously dressed in the same outfit.  Peter & Jason talk about their web series, their podcast Guys with Feelings, and their band Limo Driver.  They perform “Taken, with Liam Neeson” – a song that describes the experience of watching the film with Jason’s Mom.

Jason & Peter describe their comedic processes and childhoods.  Chat viewers asked them who they’d like to work with and what new comics they’re into right now.  We closed with our “Celebrity Questions” segment, this week featuring questions submitted by Chelsea Peretti!
