Jacob Burch and Lon Harris hosted episode 19 of This Week in iPad on Thursday, July 29thth on the ThisWeekIn Network. The guest on this week’s show was Joe Johnston, of Universal Mind, the company which produces iBrainstorm

App Review – CineXPlayer (6:20)
CineXPlayer is a media player for the iPad which will play any AVI video file, including DivX and Xvid files. Harris said that CineXPlayer is a “great app” and renders video really well.
Interview (9:00)
Harris demonstrated iBrainstorm the interaction between iBrainstorm’s iPhone and iPad applications. Harris asked Johnston about the origination of iBrainstorm who responded that it came out of the company’s need to take their large paper sketch boards and bring them to clients. Johnston said that the app was the result of three months of on-and-off work by Universal Mind’s UX team.
Johnston said that the app would be adding additional gesture interactions such as allowing panning and zooming. Other features coming down the line include an Android companion, a simplified user interface and multi-colored drawing. Harris commented that he liked the app’s feature to export to Flickr. Johnston said that the company was working on adding an export to basecamp feature and the ability to show the iPad on an external VGA display.

2011 iPad Rumors – DigiTimes reported that Apple will launch an upgrade processor with more ram and an improved processor, as well as a 7” iPad with a 1024×768 screen. The report also said that Apple will continue to use IPS LCD screens rather than move to OLED screens.
Amazon.com Tablet – Amazon’s Lab 126 may be developing additional hardware projects beyond the Kindle including a tablet, which would allow users to consumer Amazon content.
Fotopedia Heritage – Fotopedia Heritage is an application which shows a world map that contains pin points of images around the world. Harris referred to it as a “coffee table” iPad application.
iPad Software Update – Apple released versions 4.0.2 and 3.2.2 of iOS which fixed the security vulnerability which was used to jailbreak iOS devices via jailbreakme.com.
Dell Streak – A new Android-based tablet has been released which works with AT&T’s network. The tablet runs Android 1.6 and received generally poor reviews online.
Planet of the Apps – Sports Games (45:15)
Madden 2011 – Burch reviewed Madden 2011 and said that the game offered excellent graphics and fun gameplay. Burch showed how users can create their own routes using the iPad UI but the controls weren’t as precise as what it would be on a console system.
Chop Chop Tennis – Harris reviewed Chop Chop Tennis and said that the game had a casual feel. He said that he felt the game would let him win. The game is available for $1.99 on the App Store.
Fifa 2010 – Fifa 2010 is an iPhone app which renders reasonably well on the iPad, and said that the controls work better on the iPad than they do on the iPhone. Burch said that he expects Fifa 2011 to come out in October for the iPad
Flick HD Baseball – Harris said he was “really impressed” and that the game was “a lot of fun.” Harris noted the game’s replay value and that the game was affordable at $1.99.
NBA Hotshot – Burch reviewed NBA HotShot, an iPad version of the arcade game “Hot Shot.” He said the game was “really well done.”
Stick Golf HD- Harris reviewed Stick Golf HD for the iPad and said that the game was reasonably priced, but somewhat difficult.
