Edward Burns, who broke through to mainstream success with his low-budget indie debut “The Brothers McMullen,” talks to Farrell Roth about the future of filmmaking, his new Christmas movie, his foray into direct-to-consumer film marketing and even one of his more memorable big-budget misses.

Hear Burns dish about “Purple Violets,” the FIRST film initially offered exclusively through iTunes, and about the ‘rules’ he set for himself while making “Nice Guy Johnny.” Edward also gives us some early hints about his web-only project “Winter Spring Summer Fall,” and looks back on performing in the ill-fated big-budget sci-fi adventure “A Sound of Thunder.”
