Om on his previous experience at Red Herring and Forbes. Om discusses True Ventures‘s emphasis on being friendly towards entrepreneurs and how Toni Schneider, Tony Conrad and he were hired specifically to cultivate that. GigaOm was funded by TrueVentures and it was their 1st investment. Om on becoming Chairman 2 years ago due to medical condition and the company’s transition to a more management style structure. Paul talks about how long he has worked in the Venture Capital world and where he got started. Paul and Mark have a discussion about evergreen fund (see * for explanation) and hybrid. *Fund 1:  A closed fund raises $100M or $200M usually during a period of time is (7 to10yrs), you invest for 4-5yrs then harvest (sell some companies, IPO) in year 10 you expect to return on capital

*Evergreen : No closed period or exit at within a fixed period of time; proceeds returned from the fund are put back into the fund and that’s where terms comes from.

Discussion between Mark, Om, and Paul on Apple’s big announcements OS 4 and the new iPhone. Om talks about his personal experience using AdMob on GigaOm. FTC is considering an investigation into Apple’s anti-competitive practices. Om on who the FTC should go after? Is Steve Jobs making the same mistake twice.
